About The Limestone Badminton Club

The Limestone Badminton Club was founded around 1960-61 by Bernie Houghton and Gary Quinn playing out of LCVI. Over the years the club has had as many as 140+ players of all abilities. The club has played at Anderson Gym (CFB Kingston), Holy Cross, KCVI and Chalmers Street United Church and then eventually ended up back at our present home Loyalist Collegiate and Vocational Institute. In the late 80's the club became an extension of the board of education and operated as an "official night class" as part of the Frontenac School Board's program run by Don and Shelagh Smith. In the early 90's the club again started to operate on it's own and at this time the club evolved into a more competitive club. Today we are an "all inclusive" club with advanced intermediate players, recreational players and we are also open to those who may not have a lot of experience as long as they have the basics of play and rules of the game.
During the year we hold several "social" functions and in the spring the club hosts a day long open tournament.
As the club has a constitution, we hold a regular annual general meeting in May (usually during a club night) at which time members give input to the executive, the annual financial report is given and elections are held for the five executive positions for the upcoming year.
